Both Rachael and Guy are down to three team members apiece.
After saying goodbye to Cornelia Guest last episode, Dean McDermott, Johnny Weir and Chilli must regroup in order to make sure that they do not lose a second straight challenge to Team Rachael (Carnie Wilson, Hines Ward and Kathy Najimy).
However, both teams tackled one of the toughest challenges that the celebrity chef mentors have thrown at them yet. Both teams will be taking over Mel’s Drive-In and have to run their own diner and prep a meal for 45 diners. In addition to that challenge, the teams had to make over a chicken club, tuna melt or a cheeseburger.
Team Guy was the first team to tackle this challenge. The team faced several problems in their prep work including Johnny trying to evolve his protein recipes and Dylan trying to deal with bland tuna. The figure skater put on a show as the host while his two teammates prepared for their dishes. Dean’s dish was not accepted and the diners stated that they needed more cheese. Johnny’s sandwich was universally accepted. Unfortunately, Team Guy’s Chilli was having a problem creating her cheeseburger. However, once it got out, the burger did not satisfy the customers.
While Team Guy had a glittery co-host and some timing issues, the perky talk show host’s team had some interesting times in the kitchen. Carnie was dancing around in the kitchen and loved the challenge but it seemed like Hines had a hard time working in the diner’s heart. However, the team had a problem with trying to organize Kathy’s club but a lot of people were asking for meat.
The diners chose to give the victory to Team Rachael because of their ability to connect them and their quality of food. Unfortunately, Team Guy had to battle it out again at the Blind Taste-off for the second week in the row. This week’s least successful chefs: Dean and Chilli had to battle it out in the five-minute milkshake elimination challenge.
In the end, Chilli’s decision to keep it simple with her cookies and chocolate milkshake cost her the competition as she was eliminated from the competition.
Next week, the remaining five celebrities have to please their critics yet…Modern Family’s Rico Rodriguez and dozens of kids.
