Race Against Racism, literacy, anime and more keeps Lancaster buzzing today

Yoga moves back to the roof this morning at Tellus360. The annual YWCA Race Against Racism steps off today. The Library will hold its weekly literacy classes. Central Market is open today until 2 p.m. Art galleries are open throughout the city today as well. The Lancaster Convention Center will be home to anime and comics again today. Lancaster is indeed buzzing with activity today!

On Tuesdays and Saturdays the Lancaster Public Library holds regular Literacy Classes for those wishing to communicate better in English. Saturday classes are at 11 a.m. Classes are free but do require registration. The Library is located at 125 North Duke Street.

POUR is hosting a Spring Showcase Prix Fixe today and Sunday. Enjoy a special four course meal for only $50 per person.

Grab your dancing shoes! Buddy Holly comes alive at the Fulton Theatre. Tonight’s performance begins at 7:30 p.m. The show continues through 11 May.

The Philatelic Society of Lancaster County will sponsor "Lancopex 2014" today at the Farm & Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road. Admission is free to this stamp show which runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Lancaster Convention Center will be home to anime and comics and games today and Sunday as it hosts Zenkaikon VIII. Today’s shows hours are 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. and it concludes Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The admission cost is $60, which includes admission for all three days. The Convention Center is located at 25 S. Queen Street.

The Lancaster Barnstormers are in Texas to face the Sugar Land Skeeters. After shutting out the Skeeters Thursday, the Barnstormers fell to them last night. Both teams are in the Freedom Division of the Atlantic League. The next time the Barnstormers will be home is 1 May.

Lancaster Public Works is continuing the flushing of the water distribution system. The flushing will be done from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through 30 May. If your water appears cloudy, let it run for a moment. If the problem continues, call the Water Quality Lab at 717-291-4818.

Congratulations to Susan Notter, pastry arts program director at The Pennsylvania School of Culinary Arts. She was recently named 2014 American Culinary Federation (ACF) Northeast Region Pastry Chef of the Year after winning a competition at the 2014 ACF Northeast Regional Conference earlier this month.
