Rabbit with arthritis takes to the water for hydrotherapy

What’s a rabbit to do when suffering from painful arthritis? She goes swimming, of course! According to Today.com that was posted on March 6, a 4-year-old continental giant rabbit named Heidi in Hampshire, England is enjoying her treatment by hydrotherapy to help ease the pain she suffers from in her hips and knees.

Recommended by her veterinarian, Heidi paddles around the heated pool twice a week. With her small life jacket on and a hair band to tie her huge ears back, the beautiful grey bunny seems to love all the attention bestowed upon her.

"None of us thought she would tolerate one minute in the water, but in her first session she took to it very quickly," owner Amanda Williams said. “As soon as she hit the water she just instinctively started paddling."

Also suffering from spondylosis in her neck, Heidi seems to be improving. While the center is used to working with dogs, having a rabbit take part in this type of therapy is working out quite well. Linda Prove, the center’s owner, says that Heidi is making progress in her therapy and is not in so much pain.

Heidi seems to be a healthier bunny rabbit and is also becoming quite a celebrity.

Would you take your pet rabbit to water therapy to help ease their pain?
