R. Kelly's teenage daughter came out as a transgender male and it seems the singer is not handling it well. Kelly's youngest child was born female but identifies as male. The now 14-year old recently made headlines with the revelation recently and while many are embracing the child's identity, it seems his father is not. According to a Wednesday report by the New York Daily News, R. Kelly is talking about the controversy surrounding his child.

According to reports, R. Kelly's youngest child was born female and named Jaya. The child identifies as male though and has changed his name to Jay. This doesn't seem to sit well with his father R. Kelly though. When asked about it in a live interview, Kelly's response was confusing but it's pretty obvious he's struggling to accept Jay. R. Kelly doesn't want people referring to Jay as his son.

Reports of the Kelly's transgendered child became news when Jay himself took to the internet and came out on his ask.fm account. Apparently Jay had known for some time that he identified as a male. The ask.fm platform allows users to ask questions of Jay about his decision and struggles. One of the questions asked if it was hard to come out since he had such a famous father. For those who are wondering, the answer was yes.

Despite the fact that Jay came out all by himself and then the media reported it, R. Kelly seems to be in denial. In a recent interview with Chicago's WGCI, Kelly talked about Jay as if the transgender news was just a rumor. He said, "Always believe what you see, with your own eyes, that is. Always believe what you see. That's the best way to go about this business. I've heard a lot of things about a lot of people, and it was never true."

R. Kelly goes on in the interview to talk about loving and supporting his kids no matter what. Despite his obvious denial, at least Jay has that. Kelly said "No matter what they are or who they are, they're still your kids, you love them, you know? You've got to support them. You want to support them. At the end of the day it's not about me no more. It's about three lovely, lovely kids that I am in love with and that's in love with me."

Jay's mother Drea Kelly has reportedly known about her child for about a year now and is supportive. When asked about coming out to his mother, Jay wrote, ""I told her because I knew she would love me no matter what, she has not once judged me in life." On the other hand, it has been reported that Jay never did come out directly to his father. Jay has said that he has not talked to his father R. Kelly since coming out and that his father has yet to contact him.
