It was announced last Friday Chicago rapper R. Kelly a.k.a Kelz, Icelantic Singer-Songwriter Bjork, and the Scottish indie pop band Belle and Sebastian will perform at the three day July fest this year. The Pitchfork Music festival is an annual music festival held in Union Park in Chicago that focuses mainly on artists and bands.

With the cancellation of shows and appearances last year, R. Kelly faced difficulty with his vocals and underwent surgery to drain an abscess on one of his tonsils. He indicated speculation about having permanent voice problems in his song “Shut Up”, but since then has made it clear that his voice is doing well. The king of R&B is known to recover from setbacks and controversy.

The complete line-up of all 40 artists who are performing will be announced in a few weeks, according to what the festival tweeted last Thursday. From bumping and grinding to indie pop, the festival will be flooded with a variety of cultures in the downtown area this summer.
Tickets are on sale now and will run July 19th-July 21st at Chicago’s Union Park. You can purchase either a one day pass for $50 or the three-day pass at $120 on their website pitchforkmusicfestival.com.
