Tomorrow, Oct. 01, marks the opening of the health care exchanges in Rhode Island. On Tuesday, Rhode Islanders will have the choice to join the health care exchanges to find the best fit for them.
Rhode Islanders’ source of information on the health care exchanges is the Health Source Rhode Island. According to a presentation on the website, there are over 25 insurance plans available to Rhode Islanders. There are plans designed for both small business owners and individuals.
Enrollment in the insurance plans commences tomorrow and will run for six months ending on March 2014. Boston.com reported on July 03 that the starting rates for individuals and small businesses would be between $312 to $371 dollars a month.
Due to provisions in the Affordable Care Act or as it is commonly referred to as Obamacare, insurers are required to cover a variety of medical needs. The frequently asked questions sections of Health Source Rhode Island states that “Every plan that will be offered through HealthSource RI is approved by the state and is required to cover doctor visits, hospitalizations, maternity care, ER visits, and prescriptions.”
