No end delivering enough Ra's al Ghul to Batman fans for all the Arkham specialists likes of Joker, Penguin and Riddler. The Master of Assassins' had his shadowy reach featured in "Arrow" and the Dark Knight franchise in entirety opens a whole new sinisterial inside an upcoming animated movie.
But neither the League of Assassins mastermind Ras or his deadly daughter Talia are going to fuel this Bat-centric plot as much as the ever present Robin identity will stoke.
Yet "Son of Batman" will be a ward away from the legendary Dick Grayson or the cloud-looming Jason Todd. Instead look for fan-fave Damien Wayne to steal the spotlight.
From the preview, animators put forward renders of a Gotham-esque take on Damien Wayne's bombshell debut. The story inspired from the comics paged original written by famed Grant Morrison and illustrated by award-winning Andy Kubert. Warner Bros. Animation looks to have achieved an action-paced story by the looks of the trailer that first premiered on TVGuide.com this past week.
And its a criminal undertaking of one neo-legend that determines the fate of Ra's longstanding reign.
Through the clips, we gist the upheavals and conspiracies have stricken back upon the League of Assassins this time, the trailer highlighting equally nefarious hitman Slade Wilson a.k.a. Terminater in his take over; the abduction of Damien's mother Talia; all while Batman mentors a born and bred child assassin to fight like a responsible crime fighter.
The movie frames a pivotal time in Bruce Wayne's life, an integral moment in Batman's canon, as well as the donning and assumption of a new Robin identity.
Under the directorial helm of Ethan Spaulding ("Avatar: The Last Airbender") a voice-actor ensemble is a roster of well-known names in acting. The lead of Batman has Jason O'Mara ("Life on Mars", "The Good Wife") taking over as the featured animation voice for the Dark Knight. Morena Baccarin ("Homeland", "Serenity") voices Talia al Ghul. Giancarlo Esposito ("Breaking Bad", "Once Upon A Time") takes on Ra's al Ghul. While the key role of Damien Wayne will be the voice-over mantle for child actor Stuart Allan ("Rise of the Guardians", "Jedi Camp").
The dual-masked Terminator has burst within mainstream recognition due to a strong story line in "Arrow" airing on the CW. "Spartacus" star Manu Bennett plays the patch-eyed soldier-of-fortune. Terminator also appeared in the critically and commercially successful animated movie "Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox", released the summer of 2013.
"Son of Batman" arrives on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download this Spring of 2014.
