Nashville hosted the 2014 CMT Awards at the Bridgestone Arena last night. It was a night full of surprises as some R&B flavor was brought to the award show when John Legend performed his hit single "All of Me" with country singers Jennifer Nettles and Hunter Hayes. The song was originally released August 12, 2013 and topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
The performance was backed up with Hayes playing acoustic guitar and a more a capella version of the track with Nettles sharing the lead vocals. The two voices sounded so strong and they complemented each other perfectly. In addition, the two seemed to share the same fashion sense, rocking out in leather.
Nettles wore a fitted black knee length leather dress and Legend wore a black leather jacket.
Another highlight of the evening was provided when Jason Derulo, performed his hot new single “Talk Dirty”. The performance took an interesting twist with an assist from Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line.
It’s really cool, man, because I’ve always dreamed of having my music cross boundaries and enter into different walks of life. Just because you love country music doesn’t mean you can’t love other genres of music. So the fact that they thought of my song to be at the CMTs is unbelievable. I’m just really excited more than anything and I have my cowboy hat on deck."
Overall, these R&B artists left a fresh imprint on the minds of CMT viewers, fans and those who attended the show.
