Iconic and reclusive R&B artist Lauryn Hill has just announced a surprise concert set for Saturday, December 17 at 8 p.m. at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT.
The show marks Hill's final 2011 performance before she heads off to Europe to kick of 2012 in Norway.
Hill exploded onto the music scene in the early 1990s as part of the popular hip-hop trio The Fugees and gained critical acclaim as a solo artist in 1998 with her Grammy winning debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
Despite her initial success, Hill chose to shy away from the limelight for about a decade, only sporadically recording songs for mixtapes and soundtracks.
2011 has proved to be somewhat of a comeback year for Hill, who performed at prominent festivals such as Rock the Bells and Coachella. Hill has also announced that she is putting the finishing touches on her comeback album set for a February 2012 release.
The stop in Connecticut is a nice consolation for local fans that had tickets to see Hill play Rock the Bells’ Boston stop in September, which was cancelled.
Tickets to the Saturday, December 17 show at Mohegan Sun are $58 and $78.
