Christopher Lang and Lori Tasney of Quincy, Mass. have been indicted on charges of animal cruelty in Superior Court Wednesday October 31, 2013. Lang and Tasney are being charged with “malicious killing of an animal and cruelty to an animal,” according to the Patriot Ledger.
The Quincy couple is accused of killing a cat in a dryer. Kitty, an award-winning cat belonging to Dana Hamilton, was found deceased on May 1. Hamilton also found her basement door unlocked and later found cat fur in her dryer lint trap. She then called the police.
According to court documents, Kitty suffered multiple broken bones, burns, bruising and bleeding from the eyes. (Patriot Ledger) The necropsy report determined that “injuries were consistent with having been tumbled to death in a dryer.” Lang and Tasney were babysitting Hamilton's young daughter the night before Kitty was found.
The police report stated that when Hamilton questioned Tasney about her deceased cat, Tasney's response was “that within the past few years, 7 to 9 cats that have been close to Christopher have all died unnatural deaths,” and that “Christopher has a history of mental illness and specifically animal cruelty.”
If convicted, Lang and Tasney face up to 10 years in prison each, 5 years for each count of animal cruelty.
This comes on the heels of the arraignment of Radoslaw Czerkawski for the torturous abuse of Puppy Doe.
