Zen Buddhists traditionally observe Mindfulness Day on the first Saturday of every month, to reflect on the beauty of each moment and our interconnectedness with the rest of the planet. It allows us to focus on simply being instead of doing. We can look around with fresh eyes to see the vibrant colors and soft hues in things we normally disregard as mundane – from brilliant green palm fronds to a pale green tea. We can savor every bite of our food instead of absentmindedly swallowing it while watching TV or driving to our next destination. We can pay attention to the feel of our clothes, the feel of our feet on the floor or the ground, and other moment-by-moment sensations of our bodies.
In short, we can live more mindfully throughout each moment of the day.
The South Florida Zen Group meets the first Saturday of every month at the Bo Hyun Sa, a Korean Buddhist Temple in Hollywood, Florida. South Floridians might also enjoy a guided tour of the “Tree Zoo” in Deerfield Beach’s Constitution Park, which is offered the first Saturday of every month. Coral Castle in Homestead also hosts a psychic fair on the first Saturday afternoon of every month, ending at 6PM.
You can also stay right where you are, if you choose, and enjoy this one-hour YouTube video about Mindfulness, Stress Reduction, and Healing:

Art Stroll is not a CocoWalk event nor does it take place at CocoWalk
Thanks CocoWalk! Can't always believe what you read on the Internet. I modified the article accordingly. Thanks again!
Thanks Dr. Deb! We wouldn't want to take credit for an event or have people show up to an event that is not ours.
