I'M HOSTING A NEW READING SERIES AND WANT YOUR SUBMISSIONS!
So you know how I covered Litquake like it was my job? (It only kinda was.) If you read my recap of Lit Crawl from Clarion Alley you know how I put the camera down to eat a slice of pie and missed the chance to film Rajshree Chuahan’s first reading. I felt awful, and to make it up to her thought maybe we could start a reading series together; she was a stranger when I made this proposal in the alley. I’ve never read any of my writing in public and want to, and Raja wants to read more too, so this could be a dream for both of us. On December 14th, at 6 PM at Cantina, you can help make this happen.
Why is our series special? Three reasons already, before it even starts!
• Trans-district.
• Uber-intimate.
• Unbiased, completely open selection process.
Principle
Words themselves should raise the volume; voices shouldn't have to.
Here’s how it works
- Send submissions to me and I will read all of them! Then I will pass my favorites, without your names, to Raja, and she'll make the final choices.
- Each reader will get between 5 & 8 minutes to read; we will determine if your piece is too long in the decision process.
- We will choose 10 to 15 readers, depending on the average length of the chosen texts (spoken in ominous tone).
- Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, November 25th. We will make our final decisions by Wednesday, December 2nd – this way we can let everyone know who’s reading and you can get all your friends to come (do that anyway, duh).
- Important: do not submit unless you can attend.
The Fine Print
We will accept donations to cover candle cost, but only at the end, and only if you think it was worth sacrificing a drink for. We will not accept more than one dollar per person because then we would spend it on drinks. There will be an intermission.
