MG Martin + You + Me + Everyone Else I Know + Love
If you're reading this may the universe give you what is truly your due. As a patron of the arts, my friend, you are due the greatest gift the universe has: art!
I know. That's a convoluted way of saying check out these incredible performances. I've been dying to share them with you. They just wouldn't render fast enough! By now, I have watched them several times. Jealous?
This past Mon, Jan 25 of this still nascent year 2010, Quiet Lightning struck for the second time. Like the first, a surprising amount of (good-looking, charming, and highly intelligent) people came together to hear spoken word in its various forms: poetry, fiction, slam, rant. Like the first, we packed tight and cheered on reader after reader, amateur and veteran. Sure, there were a couple of minor technical problems (but when aren't there?). And sure, we would all have liked a bit of real lightning to go with the downpour and outpour and beerpour. (Too many people bought me beers. Thank you! But next time, find a pretty lady ... I get too excited to drink sometimes!)
What did you guys think of the copies of Instant City? Want some more? And I'm serious: submit! Enough promotion though. I think we're all learning a little bit about what is what and where to find it. I'm hoping the postcards help. And am serious about postcard art: send it! send it!
I don't know what else to say right now really, except I really want to thank all of the readers (and have) and I want to do it again, right here! And I also—seriously—I really appreciate each and every soul who decided to spend the evening with us. Thank you! Although I hope we have to fight each other for elbo room!
