Rotation six:
Luke Carson, high bar: Weiler with full spin, nice. Full twisting double layout with a small hop forward. Nice routine.
Eugen Spiridonov, floor: Layout Thomas...whip to layout Arabian 1 3/4. Front double full to front layout half. Full in tuck with a step back. Nice start for Germany -- he's a great tablesetter for the team.
Thomas Taranu, floor: Whip to Arabian double second pass, OOB. 2.5 to front layout half, bounce back. He's springy but not showing tons of control here. Full in tuck, small hop forward. Not bad, not as clean as Spiridonov on the landings.
Vid Hedvegi, rings: Nice routine with tons of front double skills...
Vlasios Maras, vault: Very pretty DTY.
Daulet Narmetov, pommel: Beautiful routine with weak (not difficult) dismount.
Jose Manama, high bar: Fall on dismount, releases too early and does a full twisting double tuck and falls. Lays on the mat for a few seconds to make sure he's OK.
Vladislav Esaulov, vault: Handspring front tuck half.
Fabian Hambuechen, floor: Layout Thomas, very well done. 2.5 to front layout half. Tucked Thomas, excellent. 1.5 to front tuck full. Flairs sequence through handstand. Double full to end. Takes a bow and runs off the floor.
Rohan Sebastian, high bar: 11.5.
Philipp Boy, floor: 1.5 to full twisting Arabian 1 3/4. Double Arabian pike, nice! Thomas side pass. Long and complicated flairs sequence. He really is the real deal on this event, with grace and power. 2.5 to front tuck full. Triple full, overrotates and puts hand down! Oh, he looks disappointed. Waves to the crowd once, and walks off the floor with hands on hips. Not happy. 14.3.
Marcel Nguyen, floor: Double double layout, step forward. Great position in the air. Front double full to front tuck full, small hop forward. Layout Thomas side pass. Press. Tucked Thomas. 2.5 to front half, small hop back. Full in tuck, too much power and bounces OOB with both feet! Oh dear. He does not take a bow, unlike Hambuechen and Boy, just walks a bit curtly off the floor.
Rotation five:
Eugen Spiridonov, high bar: Catches Kolman, but legs come way apart on Tak full and has a few little other problems here and there. Good double double layout, but this is going to be a score Germany will want to toss.
Vladislav Esaulov, rings: Hits his leg on the ring on the dismount and is really lucky not to have gotten hurt on that. Ugh. Getting your legs crossed with the rings = really bad things.
Sebastian Krimmer, high bar: Tkatchev half. Tkatchev. Lots of inbar stuff. Believe he dramatically missed a handstand or something at some point...
Artur Davtyan, vault: Beautiful Rudi.
Edouard Shaulov, floor: Huge double front to open from this tall Uzbek. Double full. Double tuck to end.
Ozabek Marsharpov, floor: Lovely Arabian double to open. Both feet OOB on a side pass, which is really too bad. There has been some great Uzbek gymnastics tonight! Lets out a big sigh of relief at the end.
Zoltan Kallai, pommel: Good routine. Handstand double pirouetting dismount.
Marcel Nguyen, high bar: Legs way apart on Tak full to hecht, but makes it. Piked Kovacs. Tucked Kovacs. Layout double double with a step/hop. Hm.
Evgeni Sapronenko, vault: Handspring double front to his bottom. That was a bit scary -- he was pretty close to handspring double front to his back.
Anton Fokin, floor: Arabian double pike. Arabian 1 3/4, barely gets his head down in time. I hate that skill. Clean flairs sequence to Russians. 2.5 twist dismount, stuck. Awesome routine from the quiet Uzbek.
Philipp Boy, high bar: Wonderful high Cassina. Gorgeous high Kovacs. Hop 1.5. Tak half to layout Tkatchev. Tak full to hecht. This is a great routine so far...double double layout, tiny hop! Very, very good. Finals good.
Krisztian Berki, pommel: Wonderful scissor to handstand to open...Russian on one pommel, nice. Russians at the end of the horse, just beautiful. traveling Russians...oh man, nice. Traveling pirouette dismount, just amazing. Huge cheers and he acknowledges the Hungarians in the gallery with a wave and a thumbs up.
Fabian Hambuechen, high bar: Kolman. Hop 1.5 to full twisting Jaeger! But a little bit crooked on some inbar stuff...Tak full to hecht. Stuck full twisting double layout. I don't know how much the judges will take for the crookedness, otherwise that would be a routine we'd see in finals...
Rotation four:
Rohan Sebastian, vault: Hands down on DTY. Too bad!
Dmitrijs Treflovs, rings: A little loose on some of his handstands.
Zoltan Kallai, floor: Opens with what looked like a 1.5, stop, punch front.
Kieran Behan, vault: Yurchenko 1.5, small hop.
Attila Vlacsil, floor: Double front to open. Then 1.5 to front full. 2.5 to end.
Eugen Spiridonov, pbars: Double back, very smooth. Didn't see the rest.
Artur Davtyan, rings: Excellent form. Double double tuck dismount, couple steps back.
Sebastian Krimmer, pbars: Giant full. Inside Diamadov. Diamadov. Really takes his time on this event, everything looks precise but slow...Double pike with a hop forward. OK.
Luke Carson, vault: Believe it was a Tsuk 1.5. Good distance from the table and power. Hop forward.
Big cheers over on high bar, where Ruslan Irgashev has just hit his routine...
Regulo Carmona, vault: Tsuk full.
Attila Racz, floor: Double front. Russians after second pass.
Another hit high bar routine from Anton Fokin for Uzbekistan...
Philipp Boy, pbars: Little front flip off the top..hits the rest of the routine nearly flawlessly. Stuck double pike dismount. Arm pump. This was the one event that pissed him off at Euros, but he seems very content with this routine.
Adam Babos, floor: Double full side pass. Front handspring front full, front tuck full. Front double twist to end.
Marcel Nguyen, pbars: Double tuck. Peach half. Giant Diamadov. Inside Diamadov. Full twisting double tuck dismount. This should have a huge 6.7 D-score, which is why he's European champion on this event...
Eleftherios Kosmidis, pommels: Not his event. Swings quickly without a good amount of form, dismounts and gets off the podium about as fast as he can.
Fabian Hambuechen, pbars: Peach half, arms bent just a little...Double tuck. Belle. Inside Diamadov. Hangs on for the stuck double pike.
Rotation three:
Note: Looked like a mild knee injury to Germany's Thomas Taranu on vault warming up a handspring double front. He landed a little short and immediately grabbed his left knee, but was able to walk off the mat about a minute later. Seems unlikely that he will vault, however.
Vlasios Maras, floor: Front layout full to Rudi. Double tuck. Double full. Again, a routine just because he has to compete three events.
Philipp Boy, vault: Very good handspring double front, just a small hop. Good start for Germany here.
Ruslan Irgashev, pbars: A routine that draws a ton of applause afterward.
Eugen Spiridonov: Cranks around a Tsuk double full. Not bad, not as good as Boy's handspring double front.
Dmitrijs Trefilovs, pommel horse: Nice routine. Clean swing. Not too much difficulty, but what he did was well done.
Marcel Nguyen, vault: Great technique on Tsuk 2.5. Landed with a step forward.
Fabian Hambuechen, vault: I'd be surprised if he does more than a DTY here...and a DTY it is. Well done, small hop. He's still recovering from his Achilles tear early this year, so no Yurchenko 2.5 yet. But no need to rush things.
Otabek Marshapov, pbars: Went crazy on his dismount and I saw him getting up from off the edge of the mat. However, the Uzbek men, like the Uzbek women, are a surprisingly tenacious team. Some really good gymnastics from both groups. Just not enough difficulty or name recognition to be great, really.
Anton Fokin, pbars: Here's the Olympic bronze medalist...beautiful double front between the rails. Double pike between the rails. Inside Diamadov. Front somie to his upper arms. Belle. Double front with a small step back. Great routine.
After the injury to Taranu, who was first up on vault, Germany uses only four vaulters, and decides not to vault Sebastian Krimmer, who was the reserve on that event.
Vid Hedvegi, high bar: Fun routine! Beautiful swing and form, first of all, but the highlight for me is the dismount, a double front that goes over the bar. We saw that earlier from another guy on the Hungarian team, too.
Eleftherios Kosmidis, floor: The World champ himself on this event! He bounces across the floor before beginning, and gets so much height doing so...Double double layout, step back. 1.5 to full twisting front one and three quarters. Front double full to rudi. Press. 2.5 to front layout full to single stag jump. Layout Thomas. Full in tuck with a large step back, but still a great routine from the defending World champion. Landings could have been a bit cleaner, but he's also got a huge D-score...
Tall Krisztian Berki, the king of pommel horse, also has nice line and swing on bars. Several inbar skills in his routine, all very well done, including a Weiler with a full spin, a jam to inverts and several stalders. Just a flyaway dismount though. 12.033...he gets a real dismount in there and he might be a contender on the World Cup circuit...
Daulet Narmetov, pbars: The Uzbek anchor falls on his dismount. Shame.
Adickxon Trejo, rings: Full twisting double layout with a small step back.
Regulo Carmona, rings: He's reputed to be the best in South America on this event...wonderful low position on inverted cross. You see why he has that rep very quickly...Unlike many of the rings guys, however, he is not thick and muscled, though his muscles are well defined. Full twisting double layout, stuck. He is stoked! Pumps his fists, grabs his face in disbelief that he did it so well as he comes off the podium. End of rotation.
Rotation two:
Artur Davytan, floor: Characteristic of the Armenian team, he is doing not a lot of difficulty very, very well...like a compulsory floor routine. Layout third pass. Double twist to end.
Eugen Spiridonov, rings: Dismounts with 1.5 twisting double tuck, has to take a big step back.
Adlckxon Trejo, pommel: He must have hit this routine, given the ovation he's getting from the Venezuelan supporters in the crowd.
Philipp Boy, rings: Hit routine with double front pike dismount.
Rustan Irgashev, vault: Beautiful DTY with great landing.
Jose Manama, pommel: I think he got through his dimsount just because the Venezuelans were cheering so loudly and so hard -- real struggle for him, but he finally does it.
Rohan Sebastian, pommel: Moving quite well so far...Hit routine! Good job.
Dmitrijs Treflivos, floor: Handspring front double full to end.
Thomas Taranu, rings: Good routine. Bends legs slightly on one point on the dismount, but good landing.
Anton Fokin, vault: Tsuk 2.5 or 2.5 twisting Yurchenko...either way, terrific twist and a great landing, just one small step.
Fabian Hambuechen, rings: Good strength parts and a stuck double double tuck dismount. Fabi looks very pleased, pumps his fists and waves just a little at the crowd.
Evgeni Sapronenko, floor: Double front. Front double full to punch front full.
I didn't see what happened to Vlasios Maras on high bar, but his score was in the 13s, so I take it there was a fall or a big mistake...
Luke Carson, pommel: Powering through this routine! Moving quite well so far, and cleanly through the dismount. Nice.
Marcel Nguyen, pommel: Double pike front, double tuck front, roll to cross. Giant to stuck full twisting double layout. Nice!
Rotation one:
Regulo Carmona, floor: Double tuck. Getting plenty of support from the Venezuelan women, who are here in force to support him and are making their presence well known in the arena. Whip to 1.5. Double twist to end.
Eugen Spiridonov, pommel: Hit routine. Good start for Germany on what is not their best event.
Zoltan Kallai, vault: Tsuk full.
Adam Babos, vault: Better Tsuk full than Kallai's.
Fabian Hambuechen, pommels: He was not even scheduled to do all-around here, but the word is he's going for it...comes off midway through the routine after a missed hand placement. He wasn't ready on this event. Sadly, unlike Jonathan Horton, who really went back to the gym and worked on his routine and form and technique, Hambuechen does not seem to have done this. He looks a bit disgusted with himself.
Ozabeck Marsharpov, rings: Fall on dismount.
Attila Racz, vault: Tsuk full. I'm sensing a theme among the Hungarian men on vault...
Marcel Nguyen, pommel: A couple little form breaks but a hit routine for Nguyen to open his campaign here in Tokyo! Good bodyline for horse, but has never had a very difficult routine. This looks much improved.
Attila Vlacsil, vault: Big handspring double front. Landed with one knee locked but is fine.
Philipp Boy, pommel: A little choppy at the beginning and found his form, but then like Hambuechen missed a hand, and his leg hit a pommel and it threw off his rhythm and he come off. Gestures frustratedly and then stands for about 20 seconds off to the side of the horse collecting himself and catching his breath before remounting and finishing the routine. So Germany will count a fall on pommel, something the U.S. has not.
Rohan Sebastian, floor: It was good from what I saw.
Kieran Behan, floor: Nice form on everything here. Twisting opening pass. Layout Thomas second pass. Tucked Thomas side pass. Roundoff, full twisting windmill flip. 1.5 to tuck full. 2.5 dismount. Great routine!
Sebastian Krimmer, pommel: Great routine until the dismount, when he struggled and hesitated and barely got by without falling.
Luke Carson, floor: Front double full, OOB. Nice style ending a side pass with a Shushunova, lots of airtime, enough that he can practically wink at the judges. Flying around like that is what gymnastics is all about. Running front 1 3/4. Y scale, something else we don't see a lot these days. 2.5 twist dismount with a step. Good routine.
Rokas Guscinas, pbars: Drama free routine. Inside Diamadov was the highlight. Double pike with a hop forward.
