Quick Bar Review: The Long Room
What's it like?--Not the typical North side hangout, the Long Room is a dimly lit, smartly decorated bar featuring a very impressive selection of beers.
Crowd?--Mixed under-40 Northsiders that do not care about the game (there are no televisions). Couples on dates. Anyone that enjoys really good beer.
When should I go?--Sunday evening features live jazz. Friday and Saturday are busy with regulars.
Intangibles?--The famous Diner Grill is across the street and open 24 hours.
How much is this going to cost me?--Expect to spend about $7 per drink plus tip. No food is served.
And finally?--It's no accident that the Long Room has been open for over 10 years. The staff is knowledgeable and polite, the crowd is vibrant, and the bar is both comfortable and sophisticated at the same time. A welcome alternative to the sports bar.
