Today's Tasty Tuesday recipe is for a quick, nutritious and delicious breakfast.
Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day. This meal breaks the fast from your last night’s sleep and kicks your metabolism into gear. A healthy breakfast gives you sustainable energy throughout the day. Research has shown that people who eat breakfast consume fewer calories throughout the rest of the day than those who skip this important meal.
But, with our crazy schedules it can be hard to find the time to have a nutritious breakfast. Grabbing a muffin or pastry or having a quick bowl of cereal can be almost worse than not eating any breakfast at all. Pastries are full of sugar which converts to fat in the body and leads to a sugar rush and then crash a few hours later. A sugar crash will leave you feeling tired and fuzzy mentally. Cereal, even non-sugar brands, is made up of processed carbs which convert to sugar in your body, creating the same effects as a pastry.
The following recipe from Dr. Fuhrman’s Eat to Live, is quick, nutritious and very good for you.
Quick Banana Breakfast To Go
2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
2 bananas, sliced
½ cup old fashioned rolled oats

1 Tablespoon raw sunflower seeds
