According to Kristina Rutherford of Rogers Sportsnet on Thursday, questions are continuing of why Dan Church resigned from the Canadian national women's Olympic hockey team a month ago.

In an interview this week Church is saying resigning is "the only choice that I had in this situation" and that the decision "came out of left field."

It is now time for Hockey Canada to step up and put an end to the controversy. They need to explain themselves further before the international media will bombard the Canadian women's hockey players with questions at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Church is also saying "it wasn't possible" to address the team in person before the resignation took place.

There is growing speculation that Church could have been fired if he did not resign, but it remains a mystery why this situation occurred.

Since Church's resignation, Hockey Canada hired Kevin Dineen to be the women's hockey coach. In three games, Canada lost thrice to the United States.
