Quentin Tarantino dropped his “Hateful Eight” western movie project after someone went behind his back and leaked the script. Tarantino only handed the script to a few trusted people to read when offering them the different roles in the movie and now he is inundated with calls from agents, according to the BBC on Jan. 22.
He also added that he is “very very depressed” over this leak. The filmmaker offered one of the roles in the movie to Tim Roth, who has worked with Tarantino before.
Tarantino said that three actors were given the script, including Roth. He definitely knows it wasn’t Roth who leaked the script, but believes it was one of the other two actors who showed the script to their agent. He didn’t name the other two actors.
This is what Tarantino believes saturated his phone with calls from agents. The agents started calling plugging their clients for a role in the movie.
The “Hateful Eight” is no longer a movie script today, Tarantino plans on publishing the script as a book and down the line revisit the idea of making it a movie.
Can you imagine that an agent out in Hollywood is responsible for the Tarantino fans not having this movie to look forward to? After his “Django Unchained” movie’s success, fans are looking forward to whatever Tarantino brings to the screen.
Tarantino has had a solid following of movie fans for years, who wait anxiously for his next movie offering. It looks like this western, the “Hateful Eight” won’t be hitting the screen anytime soon, if ever. Check out the video above when he first announced the "Hateful Eight" movie project on Leno.
