Geoff Tate, the unmistakable voice behind such songs as “Silent Lucidity” and “Eyes of a Stranger” is considered one of the best voices in heavy metal and often cited as the inspiration for many singers to follow. Without delving into the much publicized frenzy which resulted in the division of band personnel, Geoff Tate has put together a new lineup of stellar musicians to rival any band.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Operation: Mindcrime, the band performed the critically acclaimed album in its entirety. Tate continues to prove he's a more than capable vocalist diving into diverse and often challenging music. Akin to an opera singer, Tate’s vocal range spans several octaves and on this night never showed any sign of slowing down.

Robert Sarzo and Kelly Gray on guitar gave exceptional performances both together and individually shining in their unique guitar styles. Brian Tichy (Whitesnake) gave a drum solo conjuring up the power of Bonham and the showmanship of Moon. Simultaneously playing and tossing drum sticks in the air, Tichy captivated with his coordination skills, all the while never missing a beat. Additionally, John Moyer (Disturbed) on bass and Randy Gane on keyboards extended the lineup giving excellent performances. And vocalist Sass Jordan added that extra spark of class and brilliant vocals.

I highly recommend this show even if you’re not familiar with all of the songs in Operation: Mindcrime, you will be caught up in the moment and become an instant fan, like me. Queensrÿche continues their tour through the summer.
