“I’ve always grown up around people who own homes…and have pride in their community. You have so many examples of success in the community,” said Chef Tom.
Tom was a lawyer prior to giving up that career to pursue her passion as a chef. Her catering business is one of many that take advantage of the Entrepreneur Space in Long Island City which is run in part by the Queens Economic Development Corporation.
Cutthroat kitchen is a reality cooking television show hosted by Celebrity Chef Alton Brown on the Food Network. It pits chefs in competition to prepare the best meal while being sabotaged by fellow competitor chefs. It was her interpretations of Cobb Salad, enchiladas and layer cake that led to victory.
As a result of her win, she has gained exposure on a national scale of her catering enterprise. She has also been receiving more opportunities to host events. Her social media presence has also gained additional followers.
Repeats of her winning episode will air on April 26 and May 4th. They can also be found online at www.foodnetwork.com.
