Queen Margrethe jubilee gala brings royal glamour

Celebrations for HM Queen Margrethe’s “ruby” jubilee continued on Saturday night with a gala performance at Concert Hall in Copenhagen.  1500 guests were invited to watch the variety program with about an hour and a half runtime.  Royal guests were plentiful from Denmark and its Scandinavian neighbors.  From the Danish royal family TRH the Prince Consort, the Crown Princely Couple, Prince Joachim, HH Prince Felix, HH Prince Nikolai, HRH Princess Benedikte (one of the Queen’s two sisters) and Prince Richard along with their three children and spouses, and HH Princess Elisabeth were in attendance.  In addition, the Queen’s other sister is HM Queen Anne-Marie of Greece so the Greek royal family attended in large numbers; the Queen, HM King Constantine II, TRH Crown Prince Pavlos, Crown Princess Marie-Chantal, Princess Theodora, and Prince PhilipposTM King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway and TM King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden were there to celebrate the milestone of their fellow Scandinavian.  Interestingly enough, and as a testament to the family’s mutual respect, HE Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg the ex-wife of HRH Prince Joachim was invited and attended with her husband Martin Jørgensen.  Conversely, Prince Joachim’s wife Princess Marie has been unable to join in the jubilee festivities due to her impending delivery of the couple’s second child together.  The performers for the jubilee concert varied with music, ballet, and comedy among other acts spanning the last 40 years of entertainment in Denmark.
