Hollywood can take another strong whiff of this. It'd be impossible to OD on the healthy body image coming from the heir of Queen Latifah and the star gives off more good vibes with her "Queen: The new fragrance by Queen Latifah" ad.
The New York Times' Alison Greene writes this week on her blog:
"What happened to Queen Latifah? I was so excited last year when she became the Jenny Craig spokeswoman with the whole “size healthy” schtick. As inspiring as it was to see Valerie Bertinelli in a bikini, Latifah’s health goal had me cheering."
"She never once talked about losing weight or fitting back into the swimwear of her youth. Nope, it was about feeling good with and about herself."
And never is this more relevant than in her elegantly cheerful ad - Or in her current happenings.
The star did revert back to what was weighing her down but she didn't have to lose it to make room for changes. The star declared she's proud to be a body image role model and moved on with her career.
Since early this summer, the award-winning actress and singer has committed to providing a positive body image ideal to those reaching for their dreams. The star has kept to her commitment and then some, adding a 'female-inspired' tour to her line up.
Queen Latifah currently is planning to cover 25 dates in 25 different cities in an effort to find the "next female rapper".
“In my entire career never has it been so male dominated as it is right now," Latifah said recently. "I would be doing an injustice if I don’t try to help bring up the next up-and-coming female rappers."
And while stars like Jessica Simpson go on quests to find the price of beauty, Queen Latifah offers it up right here, right now.
"Beauty really does start on the inside. It’s like a state of mind, a state of love, if you will. So I see a fragrance as just a natural expression of this state of love: Scent expresses a woman’s confidence and sensuality, it’s how she embraces her body, her mind and her strength."
Perfume? Available at Macy's. The ability to stay true to yourself not included.
