Kate Middleton and Prince William are expected to be gifted one of the most prized properties owned by Queen Elizabeth. A new report today (Sunday) claims Queen Elizabeth II will give the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Anmer Hall in Norfolk. The Telegraph quotes an insider as saying the country home, about two miles from the Queen's Sandringham estate, has been earmarked for the young royal couple.
Anmer Hall is just east of the 20,000 acre rural Sandringham estate and has been part of the royal portfolio since 1898. A website for Anmer Hall reveals the residence was built to its current form in 1802, although some sections are much older. The residence is a brick Georgian style home with 28 windows on the front face including dormers and a bell tower. It was leased as a country home by the Duke and Duchess of Kent from 1972 to 1990 and is currently occupied by the Everetts -- the owners of the kitchen and lumber company, Norfolk Oak.
Prince William reportedly spent time vacationing at Anmer Hall as a youngster and is said to have really enjoyed his time there. The parents of the Duke's close friend Hugh van Cutsem reportedly live nearby, which could also be an added benefit for William and Kate. Hugh van Custem's name has been mentioned as a possible Godfather for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's baby.
