It was history in the making when Cunard's two queens -- RMS Queen Elizabeth, the newest luxury ocean liner in the Cunard fleet paid a quick visit to her sister ship the Queen Mary in Long Beach, Tuesday, March 12.
Named after her majesty Queen Elizabeth in October, 2010, the luxury ocean liner arrived in Los Angeles harbor just after 6:30 p.m. escorted by the U.S. Coast Guard along with helicopters and the Goodyear Blimp flying over head.
It was a joyous celebration as a crowd of onlookers on board the Queen Mary cheered as the Queen Elizabeth made its way into Long Beach harbor.
The 91,000 ton RMS Queen Elizabeth with her 16 decks dwarfed her sister ship as she momentarily rested in the harbor. Intercom announcements could be heard from both ships followed with a succession of horns blowing between the two majestic liners.
A fiireworks display made the grand finale before the RMS Queen Elizabeth continued on to her destination south to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
