Queen Anne Book Company's stellar line-up of authors for Grand Opening

Seattle's newest independent bookstore, Queen Anne Book Company, opens its doors with a fabulous grand opening celebration Friday March 1- Sunday March 3, 9 am to 9 pm. The store, owned by Judy and Krijn de Jonge and Janis Segress, is a fresh start in a familiar place: Queen Anne Book Company is a brand-new business will occupy the 1811 Queen Anne Ave. storefront vacated by the closure of Queen Anne Books in October 2012.

As an introduction to the bookloving community, the store has an incredible line-up of local authors coming throughout the weekend. Because the owner/managers want customers to be able to explore the new books and new store as much as possible, the author events are described as "Authors in the House"-- authors mingling and signing books in the store rather than reading or presenting. There won't be rows of chairs blocking anything, and roving authors (identified with name tags bearing an image of their latest book cover) will be available to meet and greet fans.

On Friday, while supplies last, customers will receive goodie bags of homemade flavored marshmallows made by Queen Anne baker Adana. On Saturday (again, while supplies last), kids will get a free take-home Cat in the Hat craft to celebrate the weekend's Read Across America Day.

Throughout the weekend, the owners and staff of Queen Anne Books will have surprise give-aways, including free books and flash-coupons (coupons given out at unexpected intervals that are good for one hour).

Watch the store's twitter feed and facebook page for updates.
