Sam Lake, Creative Director on Quantam Break, revealed a few exciting details about the Xbox One exclusive at Saturday's VGX show, including gameplay, gun play, and a few more story details.

Lake showed off a few fantastic sequences from the game, which showcased visceral combat, trippy time stutters, and some insight into the story of Quantam Break. Lake said of the title,

This is a revolutionary entertainment experience that combines a cinematic action game, and a high quality live-action show.

Quantam Break takes place following a time travel related experiment that goes terribly awry, breaking time in the process, and creating the "time anomolies" where time freezes and violently skips around. The game will feature dual protagonists, Jack Joyce and Beth Wilder going up against Monarch CEO Paul Serene, with all three characters possessing time bending abilities.

Lake enforces that Quantam Break is an action game, with mechanics such as dynamic cover and cinematic gun play. Judging from the quick glimpses of in-game action, Lake nails the description of immersive and action oriented combat.

Quantam Break will also feature numerous time powers according to Lake, although no powers are described in detail, it is emphasized that players will need to master all the powers to take down Serene and Monarch Industries.

Remedy already has some heavyweights already under their belt that the studio claims to be borrowing key elements and development lessons from. Lake comments Remedy will leverage the stylized action of Max Payne, coupled with the interactive storytelling of Alan Wake and by all accounts, this should help Remedy deliver a truly exciting experience.

Quantam Break will release exclusively for Xbox one in 2014.
