Quality professional and amateur boxing this weekend

This weekend continues a hot February for Colorado professional and ‘Olympic Style' (amateur) boxing beginning tonight at the Red & Jerry’s Events Center, 1840 W. Oxford Ave., in Sheridan, Colorado, as Airtight Boxing Promotions (Steve Mestas) presents ‘The Uprising’, where in the Main Event of the evening ‘House of Pain’ stalwart Alfred ‘Tornado’ Romero (4-2, 4 KO’s) takes on Richard Baldo in welterweight action.

The undercard has Marcus Dawkins vs Alejandro Ayala, Isaiah Barela vs Rudy Zapata, Martin Quezada vs Jorge Aguina and in an MMA contest Andrew Arguello battles Ethan Warren.

Remaining tickets and ringside VIP tables can be purchased by calling 720-298-1954, with ticket prices beginning at $25 for general admission doors opening at 6PM and fight action beginning at 7PM.

Saturday afternoon at the Lightning Lonnie (Smith) learning Center, 3540 E. 31st Ave., in Denver, Colorado, ‘Elite Amateur Action II’ (Aurelio Martinez) features quality ‘Olympic Style Boxing’ with senior division open-class fighters from Colorado facing off against a contingent of boxers from Utah and New Mexico in what should be exciting action.

Of special interest should be the matchup of two top notch females with credentials second to none, as Berenice Hernandez from Las Vegas, Nevada, (trained by Everette Elliston of Delgado’s Boxing) climbs into the ring against Albuquerque, New Mexico, star Cheyenne Candelaria.

This bout may prove being the best bout of the afternoon, these two ladies sporting impressive amateur backgrounds and looking to provide action to equal or surpass that of their male counterparts.

There will be an attractive matchup of area junior boxers on the 'undercard' who will look to steal the show as well with their own competitive action.

Additionally there will be donations accepted for young Paxton Oliver (‘Baby Paxton’) who is just over one year old and his family in need of help with medical procedures and costs arising from a rare disease he unfortunately has known as anophthalmia, being born without one or both eyes.

Colored wrist bands with the names ‘Baby Paxton’ and ‘InsideBoxing.com’ will be on sale for $5, all proceeds going to the ‘Baby Paxton Oliver Fund’.

The action begins at 2PM with tickets reasonably priced at just $10 general admission and floor seating $15, advance tickets and more information attained by calling 720-297-7654.
