From bathroom charges to carry-on charges, it may seem like the age of airline freebies for travelers has ended.
EL AL Israel Airlines has introduced a free cell phone promotion for U.S. passengers. Travelers who purchase roundtrip tickets for departures before June 30, 2010, can receive one of 1,000 free cell phones to use in Israel and on future visits.
After a qualifying purchase, the passenger will get a code and a link to the registration website for the phone. The phone comes with 60 free minutes of outgoing calls from within Israel. There will be no charge for global incoming calls.
EL AL is the only airline to offer first class service on nonstop flights between the U.S. and Israel. The airline carries more than 1.9 million passengers each year.
