Quakes win 1-0 over Norwich City FC (Photos)

The San Jose Earthquakes topped the Norwich City FC of the English Premier League 1-0 in an International friendly between the two clubs on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. Earthquakes midfielder Cordell Cato scored the lone goal in the 7th minute.

Earthquakes forward Walter Martinez pressured the defender who opted to pass back, and Cato intercepter the ball intended for Norwich City FC goalie Mark Bunn and slid in past the him for the score.

The Earthquakes had more chances in the game outshooting the Canaries 10-4. With Cato's early goal, the San Jose defense held Norwich City to very few chances. The Earthquakes were more dangerous in the second half with several scoring chances but could not convert.

The Earthquakes improved to a 2-0-3 all-time record in International friendlies against teams from the English Premier League. The Earthquakes will host the Portland Timbers on Saturday, July 27, 2013 to resume MLS play.
