Anchorage, AK- A group of warbird enthusiasts will gather on March 29 at Merrill Field (MRI/PAMR) to re-kindle an old Merrill Field tradition to commemorate the 1964 Alaska Earthquake on its 50th anniversary.
The gathering will be held just off of 5th Ave. Anchorage. The Quake Wake, will feature an aviation community gathering on Saturday, March 29th, at the Hangar.net, 2400 E 5th Ave. from 4-8 p.m. It is a spaghetti dinner, with a $10 suggested donation, all of which goes to help keep old warbirds flying.
The event will feature a silent auction for a ride in a BT-13, 1-hour instruction in a North American AT-6, Artwork from the Alaska Aviation Museum and the Alaska Air Carriers Association, tickets on RAVN Alaska and PennAir, dessert gift certificate from the Flying Dutchman European Bakery, and logo wear from the Alaska Airmen Association.
Pilots and members of the general public are invited to participate and see the WWII aircraft preserved in this hangar.
