Queer the Air is proud to present the US Examiner exclusive premiere of pop provocateur Jef Barbara's new double A-side single: Side A: “About Singers” / Side AA: “Chords” featuring Laetitia from Stereolab. Stream the tracks here.
Too fabulous for only one time period, Montreal popsmith Jef Barbara hopped a time machine and set off for a distant future to put together his latest masterpiece full length album Soft to the Touch due out October. His return heralded by the release of the vanguard single “I Know I'm Late” and the accompanying remix EP, the glamorous god of glitter has once more offered a glimpse into the future as he knows it with his new double A-side single: “About Singers” / “Chords” featuring Laetitia from Stereolab.
Suave, sophisticated and hypnotic, Barbara's new music conjures aural images of early Depeche Mode paired with Ziggy Stardust era David Bowie in a generously soulful yet provocative mix which perfectly showcases the avant guarde mastermind's compelling and lush performance style.
Soft to the Touch is slotted for release October 1on Club Roll Music. Jef will ignite his tour engines in Europe, debuting songs from the LP to festival crowds, at high profile fashion events and to intimate club audiences. The first string of dates is now confirmed, with more to follow for Europe shortly. The second leg of the “Soft to the Touch” tour will touch down in Canada and The US in late autumn, with North American tour date announcements to be revealed in the very near future.
