QCSL World Cup weekend results - Week 6

France hand Greece their first loss
France hand Greece their first loss

Tuesday December 1st, 2009 - Greece and Canada failed to remain undefeated in the QCSL World Cup this passed weekend while San Marino was able to get their first win of the season.

Haiti 7 – Canada 6
San Marino 5 – Haiti 4

Canada came into week six at the top of the table and failed to remain undefeated against a very well prepared Haitien team. Berlin Jean-Gilles was the man of the match scoring four goals while his teammate Arsene Ehounoud scored the other three goals for Haiti. Canada were able to put six goals passed the Haitien goalkeeper but it still wasn’t enough to get the three points.
After a scintillating match versus Canada on Saturday night Haiti played their second game in as many days against a winless San Marino side. A win was surely in the bag for Haiti right? Wong, San Marino was able to upset Haiti and claim their first win of the season.

France 4 – Greece 1
France handed Greece their first loss of the season with a dominating performance. Carl Venne O’Reilly scored twice for France who limited Greece to only seven shots on goal all game. Paul Desrochers earned the man of the match honors for France as he finished the game with one goal and one assist. France now sits tied for third place with Greece on 12 points.

Italy 3 – Portugal 2
Italy’s starting goalkeeper was kept out of action this week which meant that backup Johnathan Festa had the difficult task to stop the high powered Portuguese offence. He was definitely up to the challenge stopping 24 out of 26 shots and leading Italy to an important 3-2 victory over Portugal. Massimo Di Ioia, Vincenzo Di Biasi and Antonio Perrotta had a goal each to help Italy get their third win of the season.

Mali 8 – Algeria 2
Mali headed into the weekend hoping to catch up to first place by winning against bottom team Algeria. Alex Haddad, Bernadel Jean Gilles and Andy Duvil each scored twice for Mali as they easily defeated Algeria 8 – 2. Algeria is the only team in the league without any points losing six of six all in regulation.

Other Results
DR Congo 5 – Mexico 4 (OT)
Sweden 4 – Chile 3
Sweden 5 – Mali 4

Next week's premium match

My prediction: Canada 7 – France 5
