Wednesday January 6th, 2010 – The top teams in the QCSL started off the New Year on the right foot. Greece, Mali, Canada and Italy all had a perfect weekend setting up what will be an exciting finish to the end of the season.

Greece 9 – Switzerland 8
Greece was able to defeat Swtizerland by one goal in a match that provided very little defense. A total of 17 goals were scored and close to 60 attempts on goal were taken. Chris Stathopoulos, Ilias Calaitzidis, Bill Sedgewick and Bruno Munguia each scored twice for Greece who was able to maintain their lead at the top of the QCSL Standings. Greece will play Haiti next week in what seems to be a sure three points.

Italy 6 – Morocco 4
Italy 3 – Sweden 2

Italy was able to obtain five out of a possible six points this weekend to maintain the pace at the top of the standings. On Saturday Gabriel Stante’s hat trick and 4 point performance was enough to help Italy defeat a very strong Moroccan side. On Sunday night a shootout was necessary to determine a winner between Italy and Sweden. After Italy dominated the match by outshooting Sweden 33 – 14, they scored on both shootout attempts passed Man of the Match Gerry Argento to secure two points. Italy who is currently tied in 2nd place will face Canada and France next week in back to back games.

Canada 4 – Trinidad 3
Canada 9 – DR Congo 0
Canada had a perfect weekend recording six points from two games. Wyn Belotte had an incredible weekend scoring six goals for Canada. Wyn scored two goals on Saturday helping Canada defeat Trinidad by the slimmest of margins. Sunday was a different story for Canada who completely dominated DR Congo scoring nine goals. Wyn scored four of them as Canada climbed into a tie for 2nd place. They will face Italy and Portugal next week and hope to make it another perfect weekend.

Mali 6 – Mexico 0
Mali easily defeated lowly Mexico by six goals. Allowing only nine shots against Mali moved into a three-way tie in 2nd place with both Italy and Canada. Mali will face DR Congo next week as they look to remain in second place.

Other Results
San Marino 6 – France 5
Chile 7 – DR Congo 6 (OT)
Haiti 12 – Algeria 9
Portugal 3 – Bosnia 1

Next week's premium match
