QCSL World Cup Semi Final Results

Tuesday April 13th, 2010 – Canada booked a spot in their third consecutive final after defeating Cinderella team Portugal. Chile needed all three games and a crucial overtime goal to defeat Sweden making the QCSL finals for the first time.

Canada 7 – Portugal 3
Cinderella did not quite make it to the ball. Portugal’s magical run ends after losing two games out of two to defending champions Canada. Canada easily defeated Portugal in game two by a score of 7 to 3. Portuguese keeper Luigi Barbieri was not able to stop Canada’s high powered offence. Canada will look to win their third consecutive championship this Sunday April 18th at 7:00pm.

Sweden 8 – Chile 2
Chile 6 – Sweden 5 (OT)
After man handling Chile in game two of the series Sweden were not able to dominate game three which saw both teams need extra time to determine who would join Canada in the finals. Chile needed some spectacular goaltending by Jose Jandres and an inspired performance by Hector Contreras to beat Sweden in overtime. Chile is now heading to the QCSL Finals for the first time in their history.

Canada will head into the finals as the favorites but everybody knows that in a one game final anything can happen. Good luck to both teams!
