QB Steve Davis dies: Past Oklahoma NFL star killed in plane crash

QB Steve Davis dies is topping headlines today, as Yahoo! Sports News reported this Monday morning, March 18, that the former Oklahoma City NFL star was killed in a tragic Indiana plane crash this Sunday.

With the headline, “QB Steve Davis dies in a plane crash”, sources report that the plane crashed down near South Bend Regional Airport in Indiana. In addition to carrying the past star quarterback, 60, it also had three other passengers on board.

The plane’s pilot allegedly noted a problem with the electrical power in flight, though the exact cause of the crash is still unknown. It had touched down at the Indiana airport earlier before flying back up and later crashing down into three local homes.

Passenger Wesley Caves and QB Steve Davis were killed, while the two other passengers on board were severely injured. A woman in one of the homes hit by the plane was also injured.

Steve Davis played as a quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners back in 1972 until 1976. Coach Barry Switzer recently wrote on Twitter:

I'm saddened by the loss of Steve Davis. Great role model for young people on & off the field. He was my 1st QB & had an outstanding career.
