Q&A with The Morning Benders: play LA's Fonda TONIGHT

1.  How did your performance at ACL go?

It was a lot of fun. We were surprised by how many die hard fans there were up front, who knew all the words. We aren't used to that at festivals.

2.  Was it your first time playing there?

Yes. We've played Austin probably 8 or 9 times, but never ACL.

3.  What other bands did you catch there?

Flaming Lips were the only band I got to see. Wish we had more time, but we had quite a hectic day. We heard The Eagles jamming as we drove out.

4.  I see you've toured with Grizzly Bear, MGMT, and others.  What was your favorite tour and why?

Oh I couldn't say. They were all great in different ways. We are on tour right now with Twin Sister and Cults, and they are all awesome people. We have quite a big happy tour family going.

5.  Big Echo sounds great, how long did it take you to finish your new release?

We recorded it in 9 days. It was quite a quick process. We had a lot of ideas, and the idea was to go in and record any idea we had, even if it seemed outlandish. We wanted to record without thinking about it too much.

6.  Who writes the lyrics?

I do

7.  You're playing the Fonda in LA Thursday, how do the LA crowds treat you guys?

3 out of the 4 of us actually grew up in and around LA, so we always love to go back. We have a ton of friends there, and our shows there are always a ton of fun. Getting excited just talking about it!!

8.  What's your favorite venue to play on tour?

Well we've never played The Fillmore in San Francisco, but I am going to predict right now it's our favorite venue to play on tour. We are going to be there in a couple days, and I can't tell you how excited we are for it. Not only do we have a ton of friends and awesome fans in SF, but I've seen so many amazing shows at the Fillmore. There is so much history there, it's really an honor to get to play it.

9.  Who are you collective musical heroes?

R. Kelly, Dr. Luke, Kevin Shields, George Martin

10.  If you could play with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be?

Pablo Picasso
