My response to a question in a recent
Personal Branding webinar generated
a number of anxious inquiries.
If you're one of those people, relax!
There's absolutely no need to stress
or panic!
And if you're new to this conversation,
I'll take a moment now to fill you in.
The original question I answered asked,
"Does a personal brand need to
continually evolve?"
Here's a summary of my answer.
I said, "Yes, because your personal
and professional goals, your target
market or employer's needs, your
competitors and your industry
ALL evolve over time.If you don't keep your brand current,
you won't retain access to that sweet
spot where your personal brand places
you: Ready and able to take action—
quickly, decisively, accurately—with
authority and confidence."
What I didn't address was how EASY it is
to keep a personal brand current.
Well, that's not completely true. I did say...
"Once your personal brand is developed, changes and updates
typically take only minutes and occasionally hours to complete."
But what they heard was "It's HARD." "It takes TIME." "It takes WORK."
Nothing could be further from the truth!
Once it's developed, keeping your personal brand up to date is as
EASY and NATURAL for you as it is for a hawk to soar across the sky.
I've created two examples to demonstrate my point.
One scenario resonates with women.
The other rings true for men.
Because, let's face it...
No one is keen to pile more work on top of an already busy schedule,
even when it does deliver a huge pay-off!
