The main evening gala occurs at 8 pm as Marc Huestis presents PUTTING ON THE RITZ. He'll be turning the Castro Theatre into a full-on bathhouse in celebration of Rita's remarkable career. Moreno's sure to bring down the bathhouse in a live-wire onstage interview. Also expect ushers in towels, career clips, a tappy tribute by Matthew Martin. All capped by a rare screening of THE RITZ, Terrence McNally's hysterical 1976 comedy in which Rita recreates her Tony winning performance as the wacky and lovable queen of the steam Googie Gomez. The evening is hosted by D'Arcy Drollinger, benefitting Let's KickASS (AIDS Survivor Syndrome) -a grassroots movement of long-term survivors. VIP ticketholders are also invited to attend a pre-show book signing with Rita in the Castro Mezzanine.
