Put nature in your holiday decorations

See also

We sometimes think that we have to spend money on holiday decorations that come from a store. We can spend hours and money shopping for the perfect holiday decorations that we think are necessary for a beautiful setting. Children learn from parents about decorating for the holidays, and shopping for decorations can be passed on to them as the "right" way to decorate.

You can make changes to the way you decorate your home for the holidays by putting nature into your holiday decorations. Creating holiday decorations with your children can become a tradition to replace the endless shopping every year to refresh your home.

The Children's Garden in Sarasota is offering an great opportunity on December 21 to learn to put nature into your holiday decorating. A class in making a nature ornament will be offered to children and parents at 2 p.m. at no cost for members, and included with the admissions fee for non-members. You are invited to come and make an ornament that you can also share with the animals that are found in your backyard. Raccoon nibbles, bird snack sticks, snacks for the squirrels, and edible wreaths can be created that will be a special treat for the animals and also bring nature into your holiday decorating.

Take a break from shopping for decorations and give your child an opportunity to put some nature into this year's season.

The Children's Garden is located at 1670 10th Way in Sarasota. You may call 941-330-1711 for additional information for this activity, or log on at www.sarasotachildrens
