“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:6-7)”.

It is difficult to have worries and anxieties and to let them go. Our Lord, Jesus Christ loves us so much, that He does not want us to worry or be anxious about anything. He tells us to put all of these negative thoughts in His Hands. Sometimes this is easier said than done.

In Philippians 4:6-7, it says to “not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”.

We must let go of our pride during times of worry or angst. The best way to let go, is to pray. Let God know that you have things bothering you. Tell Him you are scared, worried, or nervous. Our gentle Lord wants only good things for us. We must reveal these troubling things to Him, in order for us to feel better.

At first, we will be tentative and weary about what will happen next. We will feel doubt and anxiety. Nevertheless, we must cease these feelings and learn to put more trust in our Lord. Trust and patience will come in time. These traits are acquired with age and experience. Continue to pray to Jesus and let Him know all that is on your mind.

Then in Matthew 6:25-34 : “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these”.

Beloved, once you let go of these worries and distressing thoughts or situations, you will feel a lot freer. It will be as if all the burdens were lifted off you. Be patient for our Lord works with His perfect and most beautiful timing. Continue your praying and repentance. The closer you are to Jesus, the more comfortable you will be with letting go.
