Melody Thornton of the Pussycat Dolls, TR Knight, Barry W. Levy, Paula Van Oppen and many additional celebrities and personalities attended a benefit last night at the Supperclub Los Angeles for The Trevor Project. The event was caught on film for the new reality series The Dance Scene which will air on E! in April 2011. The Trevor Project works to prevent suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.
The Trevor Project event included a dance performance by Laurieann Gibson who is the choreographer for the E! reality television series The Dance Scene. Other celebrities in attendance at the event included Zach Callison, Jeremy Shada, Saige Ryan Campbell, Jake Busey, Jordan Monaghan and Sean Kanan.
Funds raised at the benefit will go to The Trevor Project and their crisis and prevention programs for LGBTQ youth. The Trevor Project provides life-saving resources such as a 24 hour crisis intervention hotline, advocacy programs, educational programs and a safe environment.
The Trevor Project was inspired by an HBO show named Trevor which aired in 1998. The show was about a suicidal gal teenager and show producers felt there would be viewers of the show who may have similar feelings as those expressed in the show. That inspiration was the creativity behind The Trevor Project.
