James "Jimmy" Arthur Graveley, 42 , was a decorated veteran of the Army National Guard and was awarded the Purple Heart after serving a tour in Afghanistan.

A resident of Piedmont, Jimmy was died of blunt force trauma on around 5:20 a.m., when his 2007 Hummer H3 hit a tree on Firetower Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Anderson County Coroner, Greg Shore.

Jimmy was the only person in the Hummer at the time of the accident, and was thrown from the vehicle. High speed was a factor in the fatality.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening at Robinson Funeral Home on Powdersville Road from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The family is at the home of his parents, Reverend and Mrs. Clyde Gravley of Easley.

Thanks go our to Malinda Ladd Nix, Jimmy's first cousin, who provided the beautiful photos for this article.

Thank you Jimmy, for your service to your country. May you rest in peace.
