An upstate veteran and Purple Heart recipient was killed in Anderson County early Saturday morning, Fox Carolina reported February 22.
James "Jimmy" Arthur Graveley, 42 , was a decorated veteran of the Army National Guard and was awarded the Purple Heart after serving a tour in Afghanistan.
A resident of Piedmont, Jimmy was died of blunt force trauma on around 5:20 a.m., when his 2007 Hummer H3 hit a tree on Firetower Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Anderson County Coroner, Greg Shore.
Jimmy was the only person in the Hummer at the time of the accident, and was thrown from the vehicle. High speed was a factor in the fatality.
He leaves behind his wife and three children, along with his brother Mike and sisters Tammy Ann and Joanna.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held for Jimmy at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley. Burial will be in M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening at Robinson Funeral Home on Powdersville Road from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The family is at the home of his parents, Reverend and Mrs. Clyde Gravley of Easley.
