Alli Ragan, US women’s freestyle wrestler, and Purdue University head wrestling coach Tony Ersland will be the guests this week for the “On The Mat” show for Wednesday, August 13, the weekly broadcast announced via email Monday.

Ragan, who wrestled at King University in Bristol, Tenn. until her graduation in 2014, won back-to-back titles at the Women’s College Wrestling Association national championships in 2013 and 2014. A native of Carbondale, Ill., the two-year member of Team USA earned her place on the US women’s freestyle wrestling squad, competing at 59 kilos/127.5 pounds at the 2014 World Championships in Pecs, Hungary in September.

Ersland was named head wrestling coach at Purdue early this summer. Prior to taking the helm of the Big Ten Boilermakers, the Humboldt, Iowa native had been an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska the past eight seasons. In recent weeks, Ersland has hired two new assistant coaches for the Boildermakers. Tyrel Todd, an NCAA All-American from University of Michigan who most recently was on the staff at Arizona State, who came to Purdue last month. Just this week, Ersland announced the hiring of Zach Tanelli, who earned All-American honors as a wrestler at University of Wisconsin. Tanelli had been a coach at Hofstra University.

Prior to becoming a coach, Ersland made a name for himself on the mat wrestling for the University of Iowa.

On the Mat" is a presentation of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum. The show can be heard live on the Internet at or locally in Northeast Iowa each Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Central on AM 1650, The Fan.
