On Saturday, a still alive, but grievously wounded German shepherd mix puppy, was found inside of a garbage bag in Montgomery County, Texas.
According to Saturday's Click 2 Houston News, an oil field worker found the discarded puppy in a field off of FM 3083. The alert worker noticed that the trash bag moved and went to investigate.
Inside of the bag, discarded like trash, was a puppy who had been shot in the neck.
Animal control officials were contacted and the injured puppy was rushed to a veterinary clinic for care, but the stress on the pup's body proved too great and she died from cardiac arrest on Sunday.
Several weeks ago, another dog was found in Conroe, Texas, under similar circumstances. That dog, dubbed "Buckshot," had also been shot and disposed of in a trash bag.
Unlike the most recent gunshot victim, Buckshot survived his injuries.
Authorities in the area are hopeful that someone will come forward with information about who is responsible for these heinous acts of animal cruelty. Anyone with tips or information is asked to call the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
