A puppy is rescued from a recycling bin just before the pile she was in was due to be pushed into the pit, where the puppy most likely would have died. The 10-month-old puppy was wiggling around inside a trash bag when an alert recycling worker investigated and found the pup, now named Gem.
According to MSN on Dec. 24, the recycling workers in San Francisco said the puppy was trying to crawl out of the bag it was in. Someone put the dog in the bag and tossed her into this recycling bin. Once looking at this little angel’s face it’s hard to imagine what the monster looked like that could do such a thing.
When one of the workers spotted the bag moving they stopped the conveyer belt and plucked the bag off just before it reached the opening for the pit. Gem will be well cared for until a home is found for the puppy.
The puppy had animal bites around its neck, but she is expected to make a full recover. Animal Control Officer Captain Lee Ellis Brown said that Gem will go up for adoption if no one comes forward to claim her. The San Francisco Animal Care and Control is investigating how Gem wound up in the bin.
