Derbe Eckhart had success in withdrawing his guilty plea of animal cruelty and other related charges. He claims he was pressured to accept the plea bargain of the charges. He was free under a $2000 bail and out working as a dog groomer. After the judge heard his comments and allowing him to withdraw his plea, he now has to come up with $25,000 in order to get out of jail. The judge claims he is a flight risk and does not necessarily have regards for the law. Mr. Eckhart has had previous animal cruelty convictions in 1988 and 1993 as well as a long list of more recent allegations. The judge also ordered that he must refrain from jobs working with animals while the case is pending.
