According to Tuesday's KATU News, a family is in mourning after their puppy was killed at a Vancouver, Wash., area dog park over the weekend.

Bill and Shannon Savela’s six-month-old puppy "Curly" had been at the Dakota Memorial dog park for less than an hour on Saturday when he was targeted by a large breed dog who chased, and then mauled, him.

Though the puppy was rushed to a veterinarian for care, the wounds from the larger dog proved to be fatal.

Shannon Savela described the other dog as either a husky or a malamute - whoever owned the dog has never come forward to apologize.

Just last month, a senior golden retriever was killed at a dog park in Missouri - following that incident, the owner of the dog who died has sworn off dog parks for good.
