Found in Northern Arizona in early November, two strangers observed an unusual sighting running across the highway. At first they believed it was a feral animal, common in that area; however they looked at each other and decided to pull off the road and take another glance. Patiently they waited and from the shrubs came a little puppy, full of ticks, feeble and it appeared that he could have been thrown out of a vehicle. Persuading him to take a treat, he slowly moved toward the couple and nibbled at the food. The couple knew they had to do something for the precious little pup; they lifted him into their vehicle and proceeded down the mountain to the nearest veterinary clinic.
Emaciated, swollen legs, tick fever the prognosis for Lucky the little Pointer/Mix pup was long-term rehabilitation. The couple made a call to Eileen Schmidt of Devore Chi Angels, who contacted Furry Angels Rescue located in Surprise, Arizona Opening their hearts and door for 7-month old Pointer/Mix they began to work with Lucky. Medications were administered 3 times a day, they were careful that he did not over exert himself and would carry him in and out to the yard, until his legs were completely healed.
Each day they had seen improvement, working side-by-side with the vet, Lucky was finally a healthy 10-month old puppy! Lucky at 11-months old is now completely vetted, up-to-date on his shots, chipped and neutered.
He is finally ready for a new family and a new beginning. Being abused and left for bobcats and bears, he is a rambunctious boy, who is attentive, curious and has so much love to give a family who opens their heart and doors to him.
