A 15-week-old boxer puppy died after being slammed onto an asphalt street in Virginia Beach, Va., reported Friday's Daily Press.
On Wednesday afternoon, officers with the Virginia Beach Police Department arrested 22-year-old Dionisio Vicente Salazar for allegedly stealing, abusing and causing the death of the puppy.
The boxer pup, named "Ace," belonged to Salazar's neighbor, Cedrick Alston, who described to WAVY News, what happened:
"He dropped him down half a flight of stairs. Went outside and threw my dog against the asphalt."
The grievously wounded pup was still alive when the police arrived, but he was euthanized after being taken to an emergency veterinarian; the puppy was found to have suffered multiple skull fractures as a result of the attack.
Salazar allegedly grabbed Ace from Alston's apartment and ran; the alleged puppy killer is being held on charges of breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony, larceny of an animal, and cruelty to animals.
