The Puppy Bowl is always a bit of an interesting annual tradition -- there is no show that really showcases cuteness quite like it, and the show itself is so random and off-the-wall it is one of those things that is hard to look away from once you actually start watching it. (For evidence, the bowl started to trend on Twitter immediately after it premiered.)
So what was special about this version of the show? Animal Planet had their traditional lineup of puppies (who have by and large all been adopted since the show was taped late last year) and kittens -- but this time around, there was also a "piggy pep squad" designed to cheer on all of the dogs.
Outside of cute animals, the mastery of the Puppy Bowl seems to be all about timing. The network is smart enough to air the program a few hours before the Super Bowl, so it's the perfect thing to watch while you wait for the actual big game to start up.
